EARLIER this year saw the completion of Kilbrittain GAA Club’s new full-sized playing field at Clashavanna, the culmination of a project which has been ongoing over the last number of years.

Games have been played at the new venue since July and now the club’s focus turns towards the next phase of the development – constructing dressing rooms and changing facilities. In order to do this, further fundraising is required and the club has been very proactive on this front.

Last December, the club organized a very successful boxing night fundraiser in conjunction with neighbouring club Courcey Rovers, and this time round a night at the dogs in Curraheen Park greyhound stadium has been organised, taking place this Saturday, November 18th.

The committee has been actively selling ticket for this event over the past three months. The response at the doorstep has been very good, ensuring there should be a good crowd to support the event on the night. In addition to ticket sales, the committee have secured sponsorship for the event in the form of race-night booklet advertising.

Each of the 11 races will be sponsored, with sponsors including Kevin O’Leary Motor Group, The Amber Bar, John Burke, Brendan Butler, ABP Bandon, ROL Engineering, PS4 Cork, JCD, IFAC Accountants and Bandon GAA pavilion. The club would like to express sincere thanks to the race sponsors, the sponsors of adverts, those who gave donations, those who bought tickets and especially those who gave of their voluntary time to go out and sell tickets all over the parish and neighbouring areas. The funds raised will go a long way to completing the ongoing development and a long way to improving the future of Kilbrittain GAA.

Anyone wishing to go, but who has not yet bought a ticket, can contact club officers or club secretary Marion Twohig on 086-8346124. Doors open on Saturday from 6.45pm, with the first race starting at 7.40pm.
