KEVIN Jer O’Sullivan will be the latest inductee into the Celtic Ross West Cork Sports Star Hall of Fame this Saturday night.

The Beara football legend, one of the greatest footballers to represent his division and his club Adrigole, will be honoured at the 21st annual West Cork Sports Star awards night.

A unique character, Kevin Jer (70) will add colour to these awards that recognise the very best that West Cork sport has to offer.

A two-time All-Star footballer in 1972 and ’73, he played at right half back when Cork won the All-Ireland senior football title in 1973 while he was also named on the Cork Team of the Century in 1984.

He helped Beara win the Cork SFC title in 1967 and it was his performances there that saw him handed his chance with Cork, winning his first Munster SFC title in 1971.

At club level Kevin Jer captained Adrigole to the Cork intermediate football championship title in 1979 and he also won eight Beara junior championships.

It’s fitting that he will be lauded at the West Cork Sports Star Awards at the Celtic Ross this Saturday night where special guest will be former All-Ireland winning Dublin footballer Alan Brogan – and no doubt Kevin Jer will enjoy the chance to talk all things GAA with the former Footballer of the Year in 2011.
