The celebrations are ongoing in Newcestown after their famous Cork PIHC final win on Sunday
NEWCESTOWN mentor John Jordan praised the spirit of the club’s county premier intermediate hurling team following their emphatic Cork PIHC final win (1-23 to 0-8) against Valleys on Sunday.
It’s a result that means Newcestown will campaign in the senior ranks in both hurling and football in 2016.
‘Sean Twomey and Eugene Desmond have done a massive job with this team and did you see the game young Jack Meade played at midfield? He was outstanding,’ Jordan said.
‘Mike Bradfield showed real class when he came on as a sub and he’s just back after a serious back injury. We were all delighted to see Trevor Horgan coming on, another superb young hurler who has been plagued with injury. That’s the spirit in this team.’
Don’t miss Thursday’s Southern Star for a four-page special on Newcestown’s fantastic county final win.
