Did you know that Bandon AC star Shane Howard (22), the latest winner of the Cork City Sports Athlete of the Month award, is powered to success by Coco Pops? Well, you do now!

What’s the one thing you can’t live without? Coco Pops. Anybody that knows me knows that I can’t live without Coco Pops.

What would I find in your fridge right now? The usual foods with some extra amounts of milk!

Name one element your sport could/should take from another? It would be great if athletics could get the recognition and media that GAA, rugby and soccer receive.

What do you think about when you’re alone in your car? How I wish that I had a more powerful car to pass out the slow drivers!

Who has been the biggest influence on your sporting career (and why)? My grandfather Denny. He introduced me to the sport when I was younger, always supported and pushed me to the best of my ability.

Pick two celebrities to be your parents: Angelina Jolie and Carl Lewis.

What do you think cats dream of? Ways to annoy everybody!

If you could play any other sport for one day what would it be? Bobsleigh and skeleton – the sport looks incredible and I always wanted to try one of them.

If you joined a circus, what would you perform?

Knife throwing.

If you could get rid of one county in Ireland what would it be and why? Dublin, because Cork’s the real capital.

What would you do if you found a penguin in your freezer?

Instagram it! Because no one would believe you found a penguin in your freezer …

Before we let you go, teach us something that we don’t know: I won my first national title when I was seven.
