Skibb players making an impact at U17 inter-county level

BY CHRISTOPHER BENN

SKIBBEREEN rugby is once again imposing itself on the Munster stage, with five of Skibbereen RFC’s U17 players featuring for the Cork Red side last Sunday in Irish Independent Park.

After strong showings for the club all season the five players were picked to represent this county team in the provincial blitz.

Skibbereen RFC continues to produce quality players for the representational side, as Donnacha Maguire, Robbie Minihane, Cillian McCarthy, Brian Crowley and Jack McCarthy all played a part in Cork Reds convincing sweep of the competition on their way to topping the table with three wins from three. They now sit above Tipperary in the table with wins over Kerry, Limerick and Cork White.

The inter-county competition will continue on Sunday, December 8th with blitzes between the representational sides before the top two teams compete in the final. Cork Red will hope to come out on top and have put themselves in with a great chance to do just that with the help of the Skibbereen men.

Skibbereen rugby continues to put its mark on the Munster scene and is showing no signs of stopping any time soon.
