Dunmanway man rewarded for breakthrough season
BY KIERAN McCARTHY
DUNMANWAY’S Darren Sweetnam has been named Munster Rugby’s Young Player of the Year at the Munster Rugby Awards this afternoon.
The 24-year-old West Cork man scored two tries in the PRO12 win away to Treviso last weekend, and that was another highlight in a season that has seen him feature in 25 games for Munster, starting 24 of them. He has scored seven tries in total.
The former Bandon Grammar School student has earned rave reviews this year and many feel it's only a matter of time before he features for Joe Schmidt's Ireland.
