It's back and it promises to be bigger and better than ever before.

IT’S back and it promises to be bigger and better than ever before.

The West Cork Pool Association, which has announced that Foster’s Lager is now its official 2015 sponsor, is preparing for the start of its fifth season of the popular West Cork pool league, which begins on April 17th, with 15 teams bidding to win their respective divisions.

The premier division will see reigning and defending champions, The Paragon, aim to make it a fourth consecutive title with their main threat coming from an all-star Bantry team, The Cosy Cabin, along with a new-look Parkway team from Dunmanway, who will be bidding to go a step further this year after making both the league and cup final last season.

Other possible contenders that will be hoping to make the play-offs are former cup champions, The Coachman’s Inn, along with the Galley Bar from Clonakilty.

This year sees the introduction of Division 1, and with a mixed bag of debutants and young teams in this section, it will be very hard to call a winner. The Longboat Bar, Durrus, possess a mix of young and old and could be the ones to beat with a few years of experience behind them, along with the Traveller’s Rest from Caheragh. The opening round of league games will commence on April 17th.
