West Cork teenager inspired FAI schools' team to 2015 Centenary Shield

FORMER Celtic Ross West Cork Youth Sports Star of the Year Connor Ellis has been nominated for the FAI Schools’ International Player of the Year award.

The Coláiste Phobail, Bheanntraí student, and Cork City U19 striker, is one of three young players in the running for the award that will be presented at the ‘Three’ FAI International Football Awards this Sunday, March 20th, at the RTÉ studios, Donnybrook, Dublin 4.

Competing with the Kealkil teenager (18) for this award are Dan Tobin (Oatlands College, Mount Merrion) and Darragh Markey (Coláiste Phádraig, Lucan CBS).

Ellis was in remarkable form last season for the FAI schools’ team as they won the Centenary Shield for the first time in five seasons. He scored two penalties in their 3-2 victory against Northern Ireland last March and a superb goal against Scotland in April to ensure a 1-1 draw away from home.
