REIGNING Celtic Ross West Cork Youth Sports Star Connor Ellis was on the scoresheet for the Republic of Ireland U18 boys’ schools’ team on Thursday night as they drew 1 – 1 with Scotland in Edinburgh in the Centenary Shield.

The Colaiste Pobal Bheanntrai student and Dunmanway’s Mark Buckley, from MICC Dunmanway, were both on the Ireland panel that won Centenary Shield for the first time in five years.

Connor scored three goals in four games for the victorious Ireland team in this tournament, while Mark also played a leading role and was introduced in the second half of the draw against Scotland.

After wins over Northern Ireland, Wales and England, Thursday night’s draw means Ireland finish the competition unbeaten.

After the game a thrilled Connor tweeted: ‘Drew 1-1, delighted to score another goal for my country and to finish tournament unbeaten! Centenary shield champions.’
