Cork dual stars are in the running for ladies' football Player of the Year Award

BOTH Rena Buckley and Briege Corkery are in the running for the 2015 LGFA TG4 Players' Player of the Year award.

The Cork midfielders have been nominated for this award following excellent campaigns for the All-Ireland winners, who won their tenth All-Ireland title in 11 seasons last month.

Both dual stars Buckley and Corkery (who has won this award before) won All-Irelands in ladies’ football and camogie again this year.

They created GAA history as both players won their 16th All-Ireland medals this season, when Cork beat Dublin in the ladies' football final, and that saw the Cork duo pass out Kathleen Mills' record of 15 All-Ireland medals.

Dublin’s captain and star forward Lyndsey Davey has also been shortlisted for the Players' Player of the Year award.

The nominees were voted for by their fellow players who could not vote for anyone on the same team in which they play themselves.

The winner will be announced at the LGFA TG4 All-Star Awards at the Citywest Hotel on November 14th.

The 2015 LGFA TG4 Players' Player of the Year Nominees are: Rena Buckley (Cork), Briege Corkery (Cork), Lyndsey Davey (Dublin).
