Gardaí are awaiting directions from the DPP in relation to assault charges against a Dunmanway man and his son, a court heard this week.
Jerry Brennan Sr (77) of Longbridge, Ballyhalwick, Dunmanway appeared at Clonakilty District Court on Tuesday.
Gardaí claim that he assaulted his son, Jerry Jr, causing him harm, as well as assaulting another son, John, also causing him harm on August 17th last.
He is also charged with the possession of a knife with a sharply-pointed blade.
A court previously heard that the assaults occurred in an apparent dispute over land.
Sgt Tom Mulcahy told Judge King that directions from the DPP are still outstanding and sought an adjournment to May 6th.
Defence solicitor Myra Dinneen said that her client is elderly and anxious to get things moving along.
‘His health is not good and it’s not helping it with these delays,’ said Ms Dinneen.
A similar order for an adjournment to May 6th was made for William Brennan who also appeared in court.
He is charged with assaulting his brother, Jerry Jr, causing him harm, as well as assaulting his other brother John, causing him harm on August 17th last also.
