BRILLIANT Bantry kickboxer Lily de la Cour is feeling on top of the world this week, and with good reason – she is the new senior WAKO World Kickboxing champion in her weight category (-50kg).

The 21-year-old UCC student got her hands on the biggest title in her impressive career last Saturday morning in the Citywest Hotel in Dublin when she won the senior world final against an Italian fighter, Cristiana Forin.

It means that the 11-time All-Ireland junior and three-time national senior champion has won everything there is to win in the sport.

The West Cork Kickboxing Club star is now the number one senior kickboxer in the world at the -50kg category.

‘Winning this title is definitely the highlight of my kickboxing career,’ a thrilled Lily said. ‘I’ve always wanted to win a senior world title – that was the final goal after winning the Worlds and Europeans as a junior.’
