In her comments, international AOIFA judge, Mrs Una Fleming, emphasised that the freshness of the flowers at the right peak on the day was the real deciding factor. She also pointed out that continuity of colour and the choice of window box or basket, together with the choice of bloom throughout the whole design were the main criteria and was applied in abundance over all categories.

She also commented on the excellent choice of colour, particularly on Pearse Street where various presentations complemented each other and most effectively showed off their premises.

Despite keen competition, the Chunky Chip was again declared ‘Best Overall’ for the second consecutive year.

All involved in this laudable civic exercise were warmly congratulated and the floral welcome is much appreciated by both locals and visitors.

The prizegiving ceremony for all category winners will take place at a later date and the Best Overall will be presented with the Liam and Betty Collins perpetual rose bowl for this the 35th year of unbroken generous sponsorship by Collins, Brooks & Associates.
