Ahead of its official opening this Saturday, The Southern Star got a sneak preview of the Michael Collins House Museum in Emmet Square yesterday.

Justin England of Cork County Council along with Billy Houlihan, project co-ordinator gave a guided tour of this impressive three storey museum that takes in three historical West Cork figures in history – Tadgh an Asna and his part in the 1798 rebellion, O'Donovan Rossa covering the late nineteenth century and Michael Collins covering the War of Independence and the Irish Civil War.

As well as holding many historical artefacts, several interactive and audio visual features will indeed be of interest to both young and old.

Cllr John Paul O'Shea, Mayor of Cork County Council will open Michael Collins House Museum on Saturday April 23rd at 1pm.
