Two crashes on N71 within hours

Gardaí are investigating two separate accidents on the N71 today.

THERE have been two crashes on the N71 today within hours of each other. The latest one happened around lunchtime just outside Lisavaird village and involved two cars. Gardaí from Clonakilty attended the scene and a traffic management plan was put in place until the two cars could be towed away from the road. It is understood the occupants did not receive serious injuries.

Earlier this morning at approximately 9am a female cyclist (38) understood to be from the Clonakilty area, suffered serious injuries after she was knocked from her bicycle by a passing car. Emergency services and local gardaí attended the scene and the woman was taken to CUH. A driver in his 80s is helping gardaí with their enquiries.
