Strong line up for third Glengarriff trad weekend

June 18th to 21st sees the third Jim Dowling Uilleann Pipe and Traditional Music Festival take place in Glengarriff. The festival looks to revive the tradition of uilleann piping in the area and is a must for all piping and traditional music enthusiasts. This year's festival promises to be a spectacular event with a strong artistic line-up featuring renowned names such as Lnasa, The Friel Sisters, Paddy Keenan, Steve Cooney, David Power and Martin Hayes. Other artists include Jackie Daly and Matt Cranitch as well as Kila's Rnn Snodaigh.

The festival looks to revive the tradition of uilleann piping in the area and is a must for all piping and traditional music enthusiasts. This year’s festival promises to be a spectacular event with a strong artistic line-up featuring renowned names such as Lúnasa, The Friel Sisters, Paddy Keenan, Steve Cooney, David Power and Martin Hayes. Other artists include Jackie Daly and Matt Cranitch as well as Kila’s Rónán Ó Snodaigh.

The Vallely brothers – Caoimhin, Niall and Killian – will kickstart the festival on Thursday June 18th with an intimate concert.

Lúnasa will take to the stage on Friday night followed by music sessions in each of the village pubs. This year the festival will offer a range of workshops for all abilities in piping, accordion and the fiddle. One of the highlights of the festival will be an intimate concert with the Friel Sisters on Saturday afternoon in the Glengarriff Park Hotel.

The Saturday night celebration concert will host a variety of musical talent including Paddy Keenan, Steve Cooney, David Power and Martin Hayes. A great night assured. Pub sessions will take place throughout the village all through the weekend. The festival will draw to a close on Sunday with a finale concert in the Jim’s Coffee House featuring Jackie Daly and Matt Cranitch.

Throughout the weekend there will be a wide range of Trad sessions planned and unplanned!
