A SEVERE ‘status Orange' wind weather warning has been issued for Cork, beginning at 3pm on Friday afternoon, as Storm Hannah is set to strike.

A SEVERE ‘status Orange’ wind weather warning has been issued for Cork, beginning at 3pm on Friday afternoon, as Storm Hannah is set to strike.

Met Eireann issued the alert today saying it would become stormy in Cork, Clare, Kerry and Limerick on Friday evening and overnight – thanks to Storm Hannah.

‘Southerly winds, later veering northwesterly will reach mean speeds of 65-80kmh with gusts of 110 to 130 kmh,’ it said.

It adds: ‘Be prepared for possible disruption and power outages.' 

The alert is effective from 3pm on Friday until 4am on Saturday.
