BANDON’S Sr Alphonsus is once again at the helm at this year’s annual Advent Celebration, ‘Come to the Manger’ which takes place in St Patrick’s Church on Sunday December 6th at 7.30pm.
As towns, villages and rural communities throughout West Cork prepare for the Christmas celebrations, the parish of Bandon is asking people to stop and take time out from these preparations to reflect on what Christmas is all about.
‘St Patrick’s Church in Bandon will once again set the scene of the extraordinary events of over two thousand years ago with our annual Advent celebration ‘Come to the Manger’, said Esther Sinnott, chairperson of the Parish Assembly.
The pageant tells the story of the shepherds travelling from afar and heavenly hosts sharing the news of great joy. ‘This pageant will share the sentiments of the Advent candles in spreading peace, hope, joy and love to all,’ said Esther.
With a cast of people form the local community, the production boasts an impressive line-up of local soloists, choirs, musicians and a pipe band.
Sr Alphonsus is no stranger to drama productions in Bandon, and the 98-year-old also produces the annual Passion Drama that takes place every Easter in St Patrick’s Church.
She is also well-known for teaching speech and drama to numerous students down through the years.
‘Come to the Manger’ is on Sunday December 6th at 7.30pm in St Patrick’s Church, Bandon and all are welcome.
