Elderly Woman Assaulted

A woman in her 70’s was assaulted by two burglars after she disturbed them while they were ransacking her residence at Lowertown South in Schull.
Gardaí are investigating the incident, which happened around mid-day today, Saturday 17th. It was understood that the woman was injured and that an ambulance crew had to be called to treat her for the injuries she sustained in the attack.
The local community is shocked by the incident because despite break-ins in the past, there hasn’t before been a reported case of an assault of this kind during a home invasion.
