ROSSCARBERY ... the best village in the world!
It’s certainly a very confident claim being made by the businesses and residents of Rosscarbery and one they feel, albeit with ‘tongues slightly in cheeks,’ that they can back up.
Their new marketing ‘tagline’ was launched this week, along with a new logo, and came about as the result of a rebranding exercise commissioned by Rosscarbery Business Association, the body that represents local businesses in and around the area and is responsible for promoting Rosccarbery to West Cork locals and visitors alike.
Catherine O’Sullivan, from the business association, said: ‘When we started brainstorming the best way to promote our village, it became apprarent that, for a small place, we have so many things to see and do here – sandy beaches, fishing, cycling, golf, walking, history, great places to eat, friendly pubs, a big hotel, swimming pool and much more besides. Someone said maybe we should stake a claim as the best village in the world...and that’s where the idea came from.
‘We know that, when visitors come to Rosscarbery for their holidays, they’re delighted with everything that’s available for them right on their doorstep, but we also know that many people from Clonakilty, Skibbereen, Dunmanway and the surrounding areas also come to Rosscarbery regularly to enjoy the activities, scenery, beaches and walks. Even though our claim is a little bit cheeky we think it could grab attention and help us build further positive PR for the village and so attract even more people’.
The business association is also planning a regular Wednesday evening market with music in the Square; dates TBC.
Rosscarbery Business Association also commissioned a new logo (pictured) which visually highlights a flavour of some of the wide range of activities and facilities available in the area. In addition a new promotional flyer is also being produced for the village and will be available soon.
The tagline, logo identity and promotional flyer were developed and produced by Star Creative, the creative services division of The Southern Star. For more information, call 028-21200.
