Cork County Council recently launched Your Council, a new way of engaging with the local authority.

CORK County Council recently launched Your Council, a new way of engaging with the local authority.

Following a survey commissioned by the Council in 2015, some very positive overall feedback was received, but one area in which people felt that service could improve was in communications.

A number of suggestions were also received, including the provision of online self-service options which would be available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, creating a convenient and enhanced option for customers.

From this Your Council was born – the first service of its kind on offer from a local authority in Ireland.

The chief executive of Cork County Council, Tim Lucey, outlined the wealth of enhanced options available. ‘Your Council is recognition and a response to the people we serve,’ he said. ‘This is a 24-hour service that will complement the existing range of options available to contact us.  It’s quick, easy to use and efficient and is a key development in our plan to deliver further digital services as part of our customer enhancement programme.  That is what we are about and what we want to provide.’

Included in the Your Council online services are planning, recruitment and environmental reporting. The portal will continue to develop with more services coming on stream in 2017.

This service also offers map-based submissions, facilitating even greater efficiencies in both processing and responding to customers with an additional ability to track a specific query.

The online portal is available on the website for Cork County Council at www.corkcoco.ie by clicking on the ‘Your Council’ tab, where there are a wide range of instructional materials or alternatively you can visit the portal directly at www.yourcouncil.ie.
