The court heard that Mr Moran had nine previous convictions, all road traffic related.
Defence solicitor Patrick Goold said his client accepted that he was at fault and paid an on-the-spot fine.
Mr Moran said the trailer lights had started to switch on and off while driving that night. ‘They just kept coming and going,’ he said.
Judge Joanne Carroll said it was a very serious matter not to have lights on a trailer on a busy bypass. Judge Carroll imposed a €125 fine giving him four months to pay the fine.
