A MALE motorcyclist (68) was killed in a road accident on the Kealkil to Coppeen Road this morning.

A MALE motorcyclist (68) was killed in a road accident on the Kealkil to Coppeen Road this morning.

Gardai in Dunmanway are investigating the single vehicle road traffic collision that occurred at Cousane, on the Kealkil to Coppeen Rd (R585), also known as the 'Bantry Line'. 

The collision occurred at approximately 11.10am when the male motorcyclist collided with a ditch.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body has been removed to the morgue at Cork University Hospital. No one else was injured in the collision.
 
The road is currently closed pending the completion of an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and local diversions are in place.
