A man has been further remanded in custody charged in connection with an aggravated burglary in West Cork where a sleeping homeowner was attacked by an intruder armed with a yardbrush.

Thomas O’Neill (45) made his second court appearance when he appeared at Cork District Court this Friday charged with an aggravated burglary at the home of a 57-year-old man at Derrigra, Enniskeane.

The state alleges that Thomas O’Neill, also known as Thomas Savage, committed an aggravated burglary where he entered the premises while armed with a yardbrush on December 22nd last.

Insp Danny Cohohan said the State was seeking a remand in continuing custody and Judge Olann Kelleher remanded Mr O’Neill in custody to appear at Bandon District Court on January 5th.
