Bandon Music Festival returns for its 20th year this June bank holiday weekend, June 3rd to 5th, with new and familiar faces added to the line-up of musical talent.

Bandon Music Festival returns for its 20th year this June bank holiday weekend, June 3rd to 5th, with new and familiar faces added to the line-up of musical talent. The festival’s headline acts are two of Ireland’s top rock bands The Riptide Movement and Delorentos with support local act Ruby Jude and Jupe.

Saturday’s headline, The Riptide Movement blew-up the Irish music scene in 2014 with their number one album Getting Through and string of Top 10 singles. Their spectacular success in Ireland came off the back of a trail of gigs from Dublin to Delhi with a stop-off in Pilton to slay the Glastonbury masses, taking to the UK airwaves with all 50 of the BBC Concert Orchestra and supporting The Rolling Stones at their Hyde Park homecoming. Having just recorded their 4th album The Riptide Movement are firmly established on both the Irish and International scene.

In a bid to support local talent, The Riptide Movement will be joined by opening act Ruby Jude.

Sunday’s main stage will be home to Choice Music Award winners, Delorentos, a Dublin-based Irish alternative rock band. The band have released five critically acclaimed albums since 2007, with their latest single ‘Home Again’ taken from their fifth album Night Becomes Light

Supporting Delorentos will be  local act Jupe. Last year, Jupe released their single, ‘Rocket’, to much acclaim. Recorded with producer Billy Farrell (Ryan Sheridan, The Corrs, Brian Kennedy), radio coverage for the song across Ireland and the UK was extensive. ‘NumberOne’, the band’s follow-up single – and the first to be released in 2016  – looks set to replicate the success of ‘Rocket’.

Speaking recently, Bandon Music Festival committee member Carol Crean said: ‘We are very excited to bring these top quality acts to Bandon in 2016. The Bandon Music Festival is a community run not-for-profit festival that has grown organically into one of Ireland’s leading independent music events. The fact that Bandon has been doing this for 20 years is a tribute to the commitment of the organisers, the festival’s supporters and partners and of course the loyal festival goers. We look forward to another fun-filled weekend of music and craic in West Cork this June Bank Holiday!’

In addition to the headline concerts, the Bandon Music Festival also features a free music trail with bands playing at participating pubs all across the weekend each night until 2am.

This year the festival will also have music, street entertainment and amusements on Saturday at Riverview Shopping Centre and on the Main Street in Bandon. On Sunday on Oliver Plunkett Street Colin Deady and The Shruggs will give a free concert. There will also be children’s activities and amusements.

Tickets are on sale now from O’Farrell’s Newsagents Bandon priced just: €15 per adult day pass; €20 per adult weekend pass; €15 per teenager weekend pass; €10 per teenager day pass; accompanied under 13s are free.
