A KILBRITTAIN teenager is set to make her television debut in the TV series of the smash Irish cinema hit ‘The Young Offenders’, when it airs on RTÉ 2 on February 8th.

Jennifer Barry, a fifth year at Bandon Grammar, auditioned for the TV series last year, using her own script. Following three rounds of auditions, she secured a supporting role.

She will be in a supporting role in the six-part BBC/ RTÉ series, which sees actors Chris Walley and Alex Murphy reprise their roles as Conor and Jock for the small screen.

While West Cork featured prominently in the film version, the television series was shot entirely in various locations in Cork city last summer. The film version of ‘The Young Offenders’ was the highest grossing Irish film in 2016.

The Young Offenders is on RTÉ 2 at 9.30pm on Thursday, February 8th.
