The programme for West Cork's newest literary festival was launched at the weekend with a country ball in the style of Jane Austen.

THE programme for West Cork’s newest literary festival was launched at the weekend with a country ball in the style of Jane Austen.

The ‘Words by Water’ writing festival will take place in Kinsale from October 5th-8th with a host of top names including Dermot Bolter, Carol Drinkwater, Paul Howard, Theo Dorgan and Judi Curtin.

The festival programme was unveiled at a country ball, held in the style of Jane Austen, at Ballinacurra House in Kinsale.  

A total of 120 guests donned eighteenth century costumes for the lavish dinner event, and learned to dance Baroque-style for the occasion under the tutelage of world-renowned dance specialist, Mary Collins.

Included in the festival programme are readings and signings by a great line-up of international and local writers, also including Sara Baume, Colm O’Regan, Alannah Hopkin, Mia Gallagher, Sarah Moore Fitzgerald, Mary Morrissy, Billy O’Callaghan, Leanne O’Sullivan, Rita Anne Higgins, Niamh Prior, Emma –Jane Leeson, Madaleine D’Arcy, Geffrey Kane, Rose Servitova, Cat Hogan, Katherine Boucher-Beug, Eileen Battersby and Kinsale’s own Tara Flynn.
