FOLLOWING a warning yesterday afternoon, gardaà in West Cork are now asking people in Bantry to be on the look-out for two males calling door-to-door in the town.
The two males were spotted calling to homes of elderly people yesterday. At the time, gardaà issued a warning about a navy Citroen with Kildare 05 number plates (05 KE) in the area.
A number of people writing on the Southern Star Facebook page last night confirmed the sightings.
Today gardaà have urged the elderly â or anyone who comes into contact with strangers at their door â to use their âcalling cards' which were distributed by gardaà and through the Community Alert schemes.
The cards encourage callers to fill out a few short details with contact information, before the homeowner engages with them.
âDo not open the door to unknown callers,' the gardaà urged today in a statement, adding: âReport all suspicious activity.'Â
Bantry gardaà are at 027 20860.
