A BANDON car showrooms has produced a promo video that has gone viral in just a few days.

With over half a million people visiting the website of Finbarr Galvin Ltd in Bandon since they posted their new ‘3,2,1, Bang for your Buck’ promo, add to that over 225,000 views, 3,000 ‘Likes’ 1300 shares and almost 1000 comments on Facebook, and you begin to see that this is no ordinary sales campaign.

‘We are delighted with the response, a lot of people have been attracted, not only to our website, but to our showrooms as well,’ Justin Galvin, MD of Finbarr Galvin told The Southern Star.

Apart from the interest generated, Justin said that the video has resulted in real sales. ‘The team here did a fantastic job, we’ve had a great response on FaceBook, as well as all of the great comments and best wishes,’ Justin said.  And, as one Facebook comment states, this is ‘Cork’s answer to Mattress Mick’.

The video features business manager Johnny O’Connor giving a full-on sales spiel that would put Cillit Bang’s iconic Barry Scott to shame.

Other Facebook visitors said: ‘That lad from the Cillit Bang ads wouldn’t lace yer boots, Johnny’ and ‘Johnnie if you don’t turn into a YouTube sensation, I’ll eat my hat!’

Other ‘stars’ of the ‘must-see’ tongue-in-cheek video include staff members Cian McCarthy, Shane Daly and Declan Mahony. The video continues to attract viewers, with some comments coming in from as far away as Australia and the US.

Galvin Motors aren’t the only West Cork business to dabble with video as a promotional tool. Skibbereen clothes retailer Sean Murray has also put his own unique stamp on the world of social media with his quirky videos.

Did the lads at Galvin Motors take their inspiration from Sean Murray? Are we about to witness a video war on the internet across West Cork? But Justin denies being influenced by anybody else. ‘We needed no inspiration, the team here are talented enough, we’re all about standing out and doing our own thing,’ he said.
