A MOTORIST who drove without a valid tax certificate was fined €100 at Macroom District Court.

The court heard that on March 29th 2025, gardaí stopped Elaine O’Shea, of Knockanure, Ballymakeera at South Square, Sleveen, Macroom and found that the tax disc of her car had expired at the end of December 2024.

The court heard that the accused had been disqualified from driving for a year in April 2025.

Judge Joanne Carroll convicted and fined Ms O’Shea €100 giving her four months to pay. In sentencing Judge Carroll pointed out that the accused had paid the backdated tax.

Judge Carroll took the driving disqualification into consideration.
