Fatal road traffic accident near Bandon

The two-vehicle collision occurred on the R586 at Coolfadda shortly before 6pm. A man, 30 years, driver of one of the cars, suffered fatal injuries. He was taken to Cork University Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The driver of the second car, a woman aged 37 years, was also taken to Cork University Hospital. with non life-threatening injuries.

There were no passengers in either vehicle and no other injuries were reported.

The road is currently closed to facilitate Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. Diversions are in place.
