A motorist who was caught speeding  on the Macroom bypass has been convicted and fined €150.

Denis John Buckley (30), of Corner House, Ballymakeera, Cork, pleaded guilty to the offence at Macroom District Court.

The court heard that on April 29th  last on the Macroom Bypass at Clonfadda, Mr Buckley drove 125kmh in a 100kmh zone. He received a fixed penalty notice for the speeding offence but was not paid, the court heard.

He said he had been receiving social welfare until recently and had not been in a position to pay the fine.

Judge Joanne Carroll fine convicted and fined him €150 giving him four months to pay the fine.
