Cinemobile to show free movie on elderly in Skibb and Kinsale

THE acclaimed Irish movie ‘Older than Ireland’ will be shown in a number of locations in Cork, as part of the launch of the County Council’s Age Friendly Strategy.

THE acclaimed Irish movie ‘Older than Ireland’ will be shown in a number of locations in Cork, as part of the launch of the County Council’s Age Friendly Strategy.
The Council will launch its strategy on Monday April 11th in the foyer of County Hall. The Mayor and chief executive will be in attendance as will be invited older members of the community and students from Colaiste Choilm in Ballincollig.
To mark the week, the documentary film Older than Ireland will be screened in the Cinemobile which will be out the front of the County Hall immediately after the launch and at other locations on subsequent days that week in County Cork.
Older than Ireland is a landmark documentary that tells the story of 100 years of life as seen through the eyes of over 30 centenarians.
Older people and secondary school students from across the county are welcome to attend and the director Alex Fegan will host intergenerational discussions following the screenings. All are welcome, but students are invited to bring their grannies and grandads along for an inclusive experience.
There will be one screening on Monday 11th at County Hall for invited older people and students and then there will be screenings in the Council Car Park, Skibbereen on Tuesday April 12th (at 9.30 and 12.30) and at the Pier Road car park, Kinsale on Saturday April 16th (12.30).
Admission to the screenings is free but please book in advance either through [email protected] or by emailing [email protected], as seating is limited.
