The West Cork native’s background in youth culture will ensure that the charity supports young people in education and advocacy.

'Growing up in Bandon, I understand the unique importance of local community and the role that regional youth groups and inclusive schools play,’ O’Donovan said. ‘While Belong To is a national organisation, our mission is to ensure that no matter where a young person lives - from West Cork to North Donegal - they feel a sense of belonging.'

Belong To is the national organisation for LGBTQ+ young people and their families in Ireland. The charity offers advice, information, and crisis counselling supports for LGBTQ+ youth in partnership with Pieta, as well as supports for families to help them support their loved one.

Patricia Carey, the chairperson at Belong To remarked that Kieran’s expertise was a ‘game-changer’ for the charity. She added that ‘At a time when young people need to feel more connected and supported than ever, Kieran’s ability to build authentic communities will ensure our message of inclusion reaches every corner of Ireland.’

‘As our new CEO, he brings the vision we need to make sure no LGBTQ+ young person feels they have to walk their journey alone.'
