Members of the public are invited to an information and stakeholder session at CECAS in Leap, to discuss a new EU-funded project, FORESTCARBOVISION. The project explores how forests and woodlands can help tackle climate change through sustainable carbon farming, using advanced technology and community collaboration to measure and enhance the carbon stored in trees and soil.
Based in West Cork, Green Skibbereen serves as the project’s Irish partner. Ana Ospina, Project Manager for Green Skibbereen, said the group were ‘keen to hear from anyone with an interest in forestry, land use, or climate action.
‘This first session is about listening: gathering insights, experiences, and questions that will help shape how we approach carbon farming locally. Detailed scientific research will follow, but this early dialogue helps ensure that what we do reflects real needs and local priorities’.
