
Clonakilty Macra are celebrating a major achievement after securing victory in the National Senior Debating Final last weekend in Kilkenny where they faced Callan Macra.

Opposing the motion, ‘Climate change will destroy the future of Irish agriculture’, the team (Natasha Sutton, Anne Barrett, Lucy Edmunds and Áine Tobin) made a confident and compelling case to claim the national title. The win reflects the hard work, preparation and dedication of the team, and is a proud moment not only for their club but for the entire Carbery region.
Attention now turns to upcoming events across the county. The Cork County Titles, hosted by the Muskerry region, will take place on Saturday, February 28th in Coolcower House, Macroom at 8pm. Entry is €5 and a fantastic night is guaranteed.
Dunmanway Macra are also preparing to host a table quiz in aid of the Irish Cancer Society on March 20th in The Southern Bar, Dunmanway. Registration begins at 8pm with a start time of 8:30pm. Teams of four can enter for €40, and a raffle will take place on the night.
The Carbery National Talent and Drama competitions will be held on Friday, March 6th in Lisavaird Hall. Sign-on will run from 7:15pm to 7:45pm ahead of an 8pm start, with strong entries expected across all seven categories.
Kilmeen Macra will host the next regional meeting on March 18th, with further details to follow on social media.
