A PENSIONER has been convicted and fined €100 after her dog bit one of her neighbours.
Elizabeth Pendlebury, of St Vincent’s Place, Clonakilty, pleaded guilty at Clonakilty District Court to a charge under the 1986 Control of Dogs Act.
The court heard that on June 27th last, the 71-year-old’s Bichon Frise dog bit a neighbour in the leg, causing superficial injuries. The neighbour alerted gardaí after being bitten. The six-year-old dog was on a lead at the time of the incident and its owner said it had never bitten anyone before.

‘The dog has had behaviour training since. All it does now when someone come to the door is jump up and bark at them,’ said Mrs Pendlebury.
She said she had bought the dog from a woman in Dunmanway who has four children and two dogs who told her ‘one of them has to go.’ Judge Joanne Carroll convicted and fined Mrs Pendlebury €100 and gave her four months to pay the fine. Funded by the Courts Reporting Scheme.
