THE June bank holiday weekend saw some of the West Cork Schoolboys and Schoolgirls League title-contenders move towards the top of their respective tables.
Drinagh Rangers and Dunmanway Town remain neck and neck with Sullane atop the U14 Schoolgirls Premier League standings following the latest round of fixtures.
Town travelled to Lyre Rovers and fell behind to a Leah Buttimer opener. Faye Barry brought parity to the score before two Amelie McCarthy goals secured a 3-1 Dunmanway victory.

Drinagh gained a share of the division’s lead thanks to a 2-0 success away to Clonakilty AFC in Ballyvackey. Ellie O’Regan netted both of Rangers’ goals.
In the U14 Schoolgirls Championship, Bay Rovers received a walkover from Beara United. Togher Celtic remains top of the table and two points clear of the chasing pack.
Riverside Athletic and Beara United played out a 0-0 draw in the U13 Schoolgirls Premier League on Monday. That result maintained Riverside’s lead atop the league standings.

A busy period U15 Schoolboys Premier League action began with Castlelack edging Togher Celtic in a seven-goal thriller at Brinny.
The hosts won 4-3 courtesy of a Jack Allen hat-trick. Togher’s goals were netted by Oisin O’Regan (two) and Justin McCarthy.
In the same division, Rory Hurley’s goal helped Drinagh Rangers earn a point away to Lyre Rovers following a 1-1 draw. Skibbereen Dynamos defeated club mates Skibbereen Celtic 4-0 with Leo Dowdall (two), Fiachra Garrett and Fynn Ryan on the winners’ scoresheet.
Bay Rovers are through to this season’s U15 Schoolboys Shield final. The Kealkill club travelled to Ballyvackey and overcame Clonakilty AFC 2-1. Conor O’Leary netted both Bay goals in a semi-final Aidan Whooley scored for Clonakilty.

Castlelack are the early leaders in the U14 Schoolboys Premier League.
Liam Verling and Oliver Kiely scored, each via John Smithers assists, in the Brinny side’s 2-1 win at home to Clonakilty AFC Reds. Charlie Hennessy found the net for the visitors.
In the same division, Ardfield and Drinagh Rangers produced an entertaining 2-2 draw at the Showgrounds. Keith O’Donovan fired Rangers ahead but Ardfield equalised and moved 2-1 in front courtesy of a Johnny O’Loghlin strike. Charlie Daly’s late leveller earned Drinagh a point.
Eanna O’Sullivan and Caden Walsh were amongst the goals as Riverside Athletic defeated Bunratty United 3-2 in the U14 Schoolboys Championship at Carbery Factory Park. Donagh Griffin netted twice for the visitors.
Bay Rovers maintained their undefeated start in U14 Schoolboys League One with a 3-0 triumph at home to Togher Celtic. Oskar Ustjanowski, Tadhg Harrington and Jaron Kersten were on target in a fixture Nicola Hurley, Aaron O’Callaghan and Diarmuid Mawe impressed for Togher.
Elsewhere in U14 Schoolboys League One, Lyre Rovers began their campaign with an emphatic win at home to Skibbereen Celtic.
Sean Galwey scored a hat-trick with Vincent Beechinor, Ewan Bell, Liam Ahern, Andy Twomey, Charlie Baker and Oran O’Sullivan also contributing. Oisin Minihane was Celtic’s lone scorer.
Castlelack Athletic have moved into second place in the U13 Schoolboys Championship. Cian Murphy, Cian O’Shea and Liam O’Keefe found the net in Castlelack’s 3-1 defeat of Kilmichael Rovers. Ultan Dervin replied for the visitors.

U12 Schoolboys Premier League pacesetters Skibbereen Dynamos overcame Castlelack Celtic 3-1 in Brinny. Simon Crewe scored for Celtic but a Charlie Leung hat-trick kept Dynamos top of the table.
Elsewhere in the U12 Schoolboys Premier, Nathan Crowley Healy, Conor O’Sullivan and Declan Hurley goals secured Dunmanway Town’s 3-0 victory at home to Clonakilty AFC Wanderers.
Sean Hamilton (two), Sean O’Mahony and John Keane efforts cemented Drinagh Diamonds’ 4-1 league victory over Clonakilty AFC Rovers. Oran Werner was the Ballyvackey club’s only scorer.
League leaders Bay Rovers maintained their perfect U12 Schoolboys Championship start with a 5-0 victory at home to Bunratty United. Rory Murnane (two), Johnnie Russell, Fionn Concanon and Lucas Forde scored for the Kealkill club.
Lyre Rovers and Ardfield produced a nine-goal spectacular in the same division. Ardfield’s Colin Ronan netted a hat-trick and Donnacha Collins also scored but those efforts weren’t enough to prevent a 5-4 loss. Liam Horgan (two), Kai Fleming, Jack O’Sullivan and Riley O’Leary were on target for Lyre.
There were plenty of goals on the opening weekend of the new U12 Schoolboys League One season.
Harry Kingston and Kerrie Yeboah each scored twice with Ellie O’Regan also netting in Drinagh Dynamos’ 5-1 victory at home to Togher Celtic. Leo Hubbard was Togher’s scorer.
In the same division, Charlie O’Driscoll’s lone strike earned Sullane a 1-0 win over Riverside Athletic. Skibbereen Celtic put five past Castlelack Rangers with Liam O’Neill (two), Ted O’Neill, Sean Sweetnam and Conor O’Sullivan on the winners’ scoresheet.
Drinagh Rangers Diamonds will be Castlelack Celtic’s opponents in this year’s U12 Schoolboys Challenge Cup final.
The Canon Crowley Park club took on local rivals Dunmanway Town in last Monday’s cup semi-final. The sides couldn’t be separated following a scoreless draw at the end of normal time.
Penalties looked likely until the Diamonds’ Odhran Crowley popped up with the only goal of a titanic battle shortly before the end of extra-time.
Skibbereen Celtic and Lyre Rovers will contest the 2026 U12 Schoolboys Shield final. Both clubs came through testing last four encounters with a Liam O’Neill hat-trick of penalties and Conor O’Sullivan strike securing a 4-0 win over Sullane.
Eoghan O’Driscoll netted twice in Lyre’s 3-1 semi-final victory away to Riverside Athletic. Oisin O’Driscoll replied for Athletic.
