BANTRY Blues produced a stunning display to beat Delanys 4-18 to 2-9 in Inchigeela and finish top of Group 4 of the Co-Op Superstores Confined Junior B Hurling Championship.

In beating a Delanys team that had won its previous two games it means Bantry will face a group stage runner-up in the quarter-finals.

Joe O’Donnell’s troops outscored their opponents 2-10 to 0-3 in the second half as they dominated proceedings. Winning by 15 points, they ensured both themselves and St Oliver Plunkett’s qualified for the next round.

A goal from Seanie O’Leary and an own goal by Delanys gave Bantry a 2-8 to 2-6 half-time advantage but Shane Murray’s 2-1 drove the West Cork side to victory late on. O’Leary struck 1-2 from play while Tom O’Donnell (0-7) and Alan O’Sullivan (0-4) were accurate from frees. Other scorers included Shane O’Neill, Ronan O’Mahony, Billy Sheehan and Jack Manning.

Gabriel Rangers secured their place in the knockout stages with a 1-15 to 0-10 victory over Rathpeacon in Brinny.  The West Cork club only required a draw to progress and achieved their goal comfortably. Killian O’Brien netted for the Ballydehob club while also adding a point to his tally. Tadhg McCarthy (0-6), Keith O’Driscoll (0-4) and Sean Kelleher (0-3) contributed heavily too. Lorcan O’Brien rounded off Rangers scoring.

Castlemagner edged out Castletownroche 0-17 to 1-13 in a winner-takes-all clash in Killavullen. Castlemagner progressed alongside Araglen who beat Ballinacurra away 5-14 to 0-7.

Crosshaven and Doneraile had already qualified from Group 1 before the final round and it was Crosshaven who earned top spot with a 3-14 to 2-15 win in Glantane. Brian Dillons saw off Lough Rovers 3-23 to 1-14 as both clubs’ championship campaigns concluded.
