TWO of West Cork's finest young sportsmen were presented with Celtic Ross West Cork Sports Star of the Month awards, in conjunction with 'The Southern Star' and c103, on Friday evening.

The July award went to Bantry AC athlete Darragh McElhinney, from Glengarriff, for his bronze medal at the European U20s and in recognition of the national records he set in the run-up to them.

The August Award was presented to Peter O'Driscoll of Ilen Rovers for his inspirational role in captaining the Cork U20 footballers to All-Ireland success against Dublin in Portlaoise at the start of the month.

A huge crowd attended the awards presentation, including Cork U20s' manager Keith Ricken and selectors Maurice Moore and Micheál Ó Cróinín.
