Muskerry jumped the first hurdle in the Cork senior football championship on Tuesday night.
DESPITE a late scare when Cork IT hit the post, Muskerry advanced to the second round of the colleges/divisions section of the county senior football championship on Tuesday night after a 0-12 to 1-6 win.
A John Corkery goal and two unanswered points gave CIT the ideal start, and the students held the lead until the break, 1-5 to 0-6, with David Goold (3), Daniel Goulding (2) and Sean Kiely on target for Muskerry.
The introduction of Noel O’Leary at full back for the second half for Muskerry was a turning point, as Muskerry enjoyed the better of the second period, holding CIT to a single point, while Goold, Kiely, Fintan Goold, Liam Shorten and Goulding (2) pointed the divisional side to victory.
