SKIBBEREEN will come to a standstill on Friday when two of its finest sons go in search of Olympic glory.

Popular Lisheen brothers Gary and Paul O’Donovan – coached by another Skibb man, Dominic Casey – will compete in the A final of the men’s lightweight double sculls at the Olympic Games in Rio.

The final starts at 2.44pm Irish time.

The Skibbereen Rowing Club stars are in lane one, and will be up against USA, South Africa, France, Norway and Poland, as they look to get their hands on an Olympic medal.

Gary and Paul finished third in their semi-final on Thursday and won their heat on Monday.

Best of luck lads, Skibb, West Cork and the entire country is behind ye.
