All results from a busy day of Corn Ui Mhuiri action, including a West Cork derby between Clon and Skibb

CLONAKILTY CC came from seven points down in the first half before beating West Cork neighbours, St Fachtna’s of Skibbereen, by five points (1-12 to 1-7) in their Corn Ui Mhuiri opener on Wednesday afternoon.

Fachtna’s raced into a 1-6 to 0-2 lead in the first half with Cork minor Stephen Leonard getting the goal, but Clon came back with a Sean Ryan goal, followed by points from Sean O’Donoghue and Ross Mannix. It was 1-6 each at the break.

The stronger Clon side took control in the second half with Mark White a key figure in midfield, and scores from Mannix (who finished with 0-5) and David Lowney (0-3) saw them safely home.

Stephen Leonard finished with 1-3 for St Fachtna’s.

Also in this group, Mercy Mounthawk Tralee beat Coláiste Cholim, Ballincollig, by 2-16 to 3-10.
