Met Éireann has issued a status level yellow rainfall warning for Cork county from Friday afternoon to Saturday lunchtime.
Met Éireann has issued a status level yellow rainfall warning for Cork county which is valid from 3pm on Friday January 12th to 12.00pm noon on Saturday January 13th with the heaviest rainfall expected in the West Cork area. Heavy rainfall is expected later Friday, overnight and into early Saturday, with falls of 30 to 50mm expected.
Cork County Council's Severe Weather Assessment Team has convened in response to the weather warning and has assessed the information. Due to current ground saturation levels and the expected heavy rainfall there is a possibility of localised spot flooding with the potential to cause difficulties for motorists.
'We would ask motorists to exercise caution due to the possibility of roads being affected by these conditions,' said a Council spokesperson.
