Bantry was the location of a major seminar this morning, organised by Port of Cork and Bantry Bay Port Co, on the potential for the area to tap in the growing cruise liner industry.

Chris Coates of cruise firm CMV had some interesting comments about Bantry and his belief that the town should develop an 'alongside berth' at the inner harbour development, so these 'boutique' cruise ships can come right into the town, rather than be docked in the bay as is currently the case.

He spoke to news editor Siobhán Cronin this morning at the Maritime Hotel.
