ALL these adorable puppies want for Christmas is a temporary home in the Clonakilty area.
The two month old labradors are owned by Dogs for the Disabled, set up by Skibbereen woman Jennifer Dowler 10 years ago. It is the only charity in the country training dogs for people with physical disabilities.
Jennifer explained how they’re specifically looking for Clonakilty homes for the pups for six weeks as the charity has a trainer there ready to work with them as part of an intensive training programme.
She said it was critical they got this six week training early in their lives to ensure they hit their milestones.
Regular homes are being sought to take the pups in while they’re trained, and Jennifer emphasised that all they really need is love and care.
Dogs for the Disabled, based in Togher, generally keep their pups for the first 12 weeks after which they go to foster families until they’re 18 months and when mature, safe, reliable and predictable at the age of two they start a partnership.
