A NEW product that allows children create their own fairies has been launched in Bantry’s Forest & Flock.

The French born, but Bantry-based, founder of ‘My Wool Kit Fairy’, Stephanie Tenier, told The Southern Star that  she is now distributing her wool fairies worldwide through a network of stockists in Ireland, the UK and the US.

Stephanie, who draws inspiration from the landscape around her woodland studio, described her latest do-it-yourself kit as a way of ‘sharing the magic with big and little kids.’

Each of the kits – which are available locally through Forest & Flock at New Street in Bantry, as well as Designs in Skibbereen and Wilds in Glandore – contain an illustrated booklet offering step-by-step instructions on how to create a wool fairy.

It also includes wings and the prerequisite fairy dust!

Each kit actually makes two fairies – so they will be company for each other – and customers have the option of buying refills from Stephanie’s website.

Parents keen to prize their children away from screens will surely agree that these fairy making sessions offers an outlet for them to play and use their imaginations.

Even the packaging, which opens out and transforms into a fairy garden, is imaginative, and fully recyclable too.

Encouraged by the success of her wool fairies, and the wool kits too, Stephanie recently launched a new online shop to meet the growing demand from customers overseas.

She said: ‘This allows me to fill orders from all over the world, as well as allowing customers to replenish their stock of felting materials.’
