SIR – With reference to your recent article on my uncle Michael Sheehan – it stated that he began painting in 1992 for the first time. The family has pictures of him standing with his easel, canvas and paintings, dated August 1962 and January 1963. He always had his own supply of canvas and paints and brushes etc.
He did not require the encouragement of ‘other artists in the area’ in order to paint. His family, and his many genuine friends, can vouch for the fact that he always loved and enjoyed painting.
