A GERMAN short film (An Der Tur) swept the boards at the 7th annual Corona Fastnet Short Film Festival, taking home Best Drama and Best Direction and Best of Festival at the 2015 award ceremony.

The festival, which took place from the 20th to the 24th of May, saw huge crowds of filmmakers from all over the world descend on Schull for five days.

Over 350 short films were screened across 15 different venues, from the Ceiling Cinema, Mirror Cam and screenings on Long Island to pub and café viewing all over town.

Visitors also attended feature screenings, film quizzes and nightly live music.

The five-day event saw various gala screenings, workshops and forums with some of Ireland’s top producers and directors including Maureen Hughes, Pat Kiernan, Rob Cullen, Ciaran Crowley, Carmel Winters, John Kelleher and Hilary Durman.

The 34 participating guests included John Madden, (Best Exotic Marigold Hotel), John Carney, (Once), Jim Sheridan and Lenny Abrahamson.

The great weekend weather added to the festival atmosphere with the likes of Gerry Stembridge, Pat Shortt and BBC presenter Nick Knowles all spotted mingling in the crowds.

Public interviews were well attended and the final night pub quiz was a huge success with the attendees, as was the ‘wrap party’ which saw visitors, guests and organisers all joining in the music and dancing, with thoughts already turning to the 8th annual festival.
