Man dies in Dunmanway Fire

A 43-year old man was found dead following a house fire at a remote property in Shanagh, five miles outside of Dunmanway town.

Gardaí confirmed that the alarm was raised shortly after 10.15am this morning, Sunday, October 14th, and that when they arrived on the scene the house was still smouldering.

The emergency services, including the fire brigade and the ambulance service, were also in attendance and the body of the man was located inside the house.

Following the discovery of the man’s remains, gardaí sealed off the area for the purposes of carrying out a full technical examination, but they said the fire was 'not suspicious.'

Anyone with any information is asked to contact the gardaí at Clonakilty Garda Station on 023 8821570.
